Do you want to keep motivated over the Winter? Quadrathlete John Kavanagh is organizing some monthly training sessions in Macclesfield over the next 5 months. The format will be a 6.4km handicap kayak race, 22km bike ride and 6km run. The intention is, not serious racing but a good multi-session workout.
The Hare and Hounds is a club event and non-members are welcome. (We have a £1.50 entry fee for end of year prizes). The first time you do the course we make an educated guess at your time to set your handicap (subsequent races will be used to reset your handicap appropriately). This means we should all finish close together.
The bike and run are not part of a club event and you must take responsibility for yourself and your own kit. Transition will be in the car park below the canal (steep steps) and you should store your bike and Kayak on or in your vehicle. The bike ride is 22km on open roads with a few up and downs. A .gpx file is available from me on request. We can ride in groups so that newcomers don’t get lost.
The run is out and back along the Middlewood Way (gravel, tarmac or hardcore surface – perhaps puddles, but road or trail shoes will be fine).
The dates will be the 2nd Sunday of the Month, Nov 11th, January 13th, February 10th, March 10th, April 14th.
Meet at Adelphi Mill, Grimshaw Lane, Bollington at 9:30 am. Bring your own hot drink for the finish, but there will cake or similar.
Check the British Quadrathlon Association or MADCC Facebooks pages (and MADCC Forum) in the days before each date for any last-minute changes and weather related issues.
Thanks John I’m sure many of us will enjoy these!
