Saturday 1st - Monday 3rd May
Venue: Newport, Pembrokeshire. Region:South Wales
Details:
The BQA are running a Training weekend meeting up at the 3 Day Newport Bay Spring Festival (Pembrokeshire). It has an increasingly competitive program and sounds like a real fun weekend with something for all the family, and is a great introduction to Quadrathlon.
The 2010 Newport Bay Spring Festival sporting events programme develops upon the established Kayaking, Cycling and Running activities of previous years with 3 days of diverse action for adults and juniors of all competitive abilities.
The main event is the adult or long Carn Ingli MultiSport events this year will all take place on the same day (Saturday 1st May). Competitors can participate in any of the 3 individual legs of the program as a stand alone event, do all three as a novel “triathlon” or get together with friends to participate in the 3 events as a team. 7.5km Kayak at 8.00am 25km MTB Bike at 12.00pm and 10km run at 3.30pm - all in one day small rest in between ideal for newcomers to the sport!
For the juniors or mini Carn Ingli MultoSport events on the other hand have been spread over the 3 days of the festival to suit juniors and appeal to less competitive adults just wishing to dabble in the joys of MultiSport competition.
For road cyclist, the third Preseli Angel CycloSportive will take place on Sunday 2nd May with the same 2 loop format as in 2009 (option to do 1 or 2 loops, each loop 40 miles!). This year we have added a new mini sportive of about 17 miles, the Preseli Cherub, to give budding road cyclists a flavour of the CycloSportive format without the rigours of the full Preseli Angel. These CycloSportives are jointly organized with Velo Teifi and entry forms on thw website www.velo-teifi.org by following the link.
Keen Quadrathletes can can race or train for 2 or 3 days, or you can come along and just do one or two events, the BQA are hoping to get some seasoned athletes their to give advice swap tips, organize some open water swim practice and also some kayak practice too. All entry forms and details are on the website www.newport-pembs.co.uk
Anyone interested in Quadrathlon who is keen to come along and race or join in with extra sessions, if you could let me know and send me an email, that would be really usefull. Thanks malpasashleys@btinternet.com
