Congratulations to Ben Brown

Ben Brown of Elmbridge Canoe Club, last year took 2nd Senior Mens Trophy at Bude's Awsome Forsome Quadrathlon, he has just been Racing at the World Marathon Championships in Portugal.

Former World Junior Champion, 23 year old Ben won the 2009 GB K1 National Championships in Longbridge, just before her went out to Crestuma, Portugal. In top form he was racing in the senior Men's K1 (Kayak Single) class over a distance of 30Km. Ben had a superb race and took the Silver medal it was very close as you can see from the final positions and times.

Ben's Canoe Club Elmbridge are affiliated to the BQA. Other Elmbridge paddlers to win medals are, Lani Belcher who raced over a distance of 26 kilometres in the Senior Women's K1 and won a Bronze medal in a time of 1.58.52 just 1 second behind the winner Portugal's Beatriz Gomes. Also former World Junior Champion Louisa Sawers 21, won a Silver medal in the K1 Women Under 23 class in a time of 1.40.08.

Elmbridge have several kayakers competeing at Quadrathlons throughout the year. The BQA wish to congratulate them on their fantastic results at the World Championships, and maybe we shall see them at one of our Quadrathlons in the Future, they could certainly teach us a thing or two about kayaking!
