John Blunsdon from Deeside Thistle won the 2009 Braemar to Aberdeen duathlon. John, a Geography teacher at Albyn school in Aberdeen, managed to find his way around the 34 mile bike, 10 mile run and 12 mile bike course in 2:55:36, ahead of Andy Williams and first vet Bruce Moroney.
Leading female was Fleet Feet's Chiin Hooi Tan, in 3:26:35
Top team was Bert McIntosh and Kenny Watson, somewhat curiously called 'Bert's Babes' in 3:15:52
Quadrathlete Alan Strachan was first home in the 34 mile bike, 10 mile run, 12 mile canoe race in 4:48:00. First team, Finray, were home in 4:29:00
Ian Park the organiser was very pleased with the turn out considering the race only went ahead with a few weeks notice, and hopefully with more notice next year will be an even bigger event. A big feed at Goals was laid on for all the entrants and helpers and a massage too for those tired legs.
